Jeeno Thitikul won her second successive Mizuho Americas Open title at the Mountain Ridge Country Club on Sunday. Through the process of defending her 2025 title, Thitikul credited more than just her golfing prowess for the incredible result.

Having posted a 13-under par score after a final 69, the champion spoke of her caddie, Banpot Bunpisansaree, for being the hidden architect behind her success. It took her years of working hand-in-hand with her caddie to reach that point, resulting in an amusing confession from her per a video posted by TenGolf.

"My caddie, I mean, sometime we get tired of each other. I really get. Maybe he get tired of me too," she said, laughing, taking a dig at her caddie.

Thitikul revealed their bond is so close that he even considers himself her "lucky sign".

The witty comment came when the journalist asked her about what her caddie was doing while they were competing at such a tough event as the Mizuho Americas Open.

Their relationship proved vital following a disappointing missed cut at the Chevron Championship. During her week off, her caddie insisted they play together to help her find her rhythm. Thitikul recalled his persistence during that difficult stretch.

"He just like, you have to play with me on the week off before going to Mizuho, because every time that you play with me you hit it good."

It turned out to be exactly what she needed to regain confidence in herself and her game, which later became the key to her victorious performance at the Mizuho tournament.

The Secret Behind Jeeno's Lucky Charm

Thitikul admitted that while many in Thailand want to play golf with her, she continues to choose her caddie for those crucial practice rounds.

It seems that their partnership worked well enough in New Jersey and allowed her to stay in her “bubble” under pressure during the last round. According to her, she focused solely on rhythm and control to hit pins that she considered “unplayable.”

She had to endure the threat posed by her good friend and competitor, Ruoning Yin, who took the second position individually at 9-under par.

But Thitikul’s calmness did not falter right through her final putt, giving her a cushion of four shots over her rival.

Discussing the importance of the presence of a reliable caddie who has been with her from the 2022 season, Thitikul stated, “I just really appreciate all the things that he done [for] me.”

With the change in the world rankings and the emergence of rivalry between her and Nelly Korda, the upcoming tournament might provide an ultimate test of her caddie's good luck.
