With 15 major wins and 82 PGA Tour wins, Tiger Woods' golf career is a biopic waiting to happen. And the golfer had actors picked out for the role for years.

About eight years ago, during a 60-second rapid-fire Q&A session, ahead of the 2018 Genesis Open, the star golfer named two names who could take up the role and play him in his biopic in the future. 

Tiger Woods replied, “I would have to say, Denzel [Washington] as the younger version, and Samuel L. Jackson as the older me.”

Jackson may be a surprising choice, but he knows golf well. In fact, he even beat Tiger Woods at it once! The two played together at St. Andrews back in 2016 with a 16-handicap.

He had to give me all my 16 shots. First time I played St. Andrews, I actually played with Tiger... He said, ‘Follow me,’ and I stayed as close to him as I could. I shot 78, which means I beat him by about eight strokes."

In 2024, developments for the biopic began to take shape.

In 2024, Amazon MGM Studios acquired the film rights to ‘The Tiger Slam: The Inside Story Of The Greatest Golf Ever Played’ by Kevin Cook.

According to an update from March 2025, Reinaldo Marcus Green, who directed King Richard, is attached to direct. It is expected to cover the four majors he won in a row.

As of now, no casting decisions or release timeline have been announced, and Woods himself has not publicly commented on the film’s direction.
