LIV Golf is returning for its third event of the 2026 season with the LIV Golf Hong Kong tournament. But the league’s CEO, Scott O’Neil, made a ‘whisper’ that got more attention than the $30 million event.
“I don’t want to spoil the news,” O’Neil said during the presser ahead of the HSBC LIV Golf Hong Kong 2026. “But we’re locked in, and we’ll make the announcement on Friday. Or I can whisper it to you in the back there, but just not in front of everyone.”
Yes, the details of the venue for the tournament in South Korea will arrive this coming Friday (6 March 2026). And one of the main reasons behind the league’s decision to expand in Asia was the love they received on the continent.

LIV Golf Korea in 2025 was an eventful tournament with Bryson DeChambeau claiming the win. But this time, Korea is getting its own club (Korea Golf Club), comprising Byeong Hun An, Younghan Song, Minkyu Kim, and Danny Lee.
Golf is becoming popular in South Korea. And to make things interesting, most Korean golf courses are highly selective of the tournaments they host. That's why fans are keen on knowing the venue for LIV Golf Korea.
But Korea isn't the only exciting Asian destination for LIV Golf. Hong Kong is an equally important spot for the league.
Why Is Hong Kong Important for LIV Golf?
“I would just say that what we’re looking for when we come to Hong Kong is what we’ve had our last two years here, and that is passionate fans, new fans in terms of our opportunity to grow the game.”
O’Neil encouraged the fans to visit the first tee on any round in Hong Kong. They’d be lined up with children aspiring to become golfers. And when stars like Bryson DeChambeau and Tyrrell Hatton go to interact with the children, their eyes light up.
The CEO continued, “For that one, we made a difference. We're here to grow the game and grow fans. I think there's a wonderful opportunity, and I hope we do that over the next four days."
Additionally, he claimed that Hong Kong is a "cornerstone" of their international calendar. It's also the gateway for the league to grow in Asia. And this time, Hong Kong is leading to an exciting announcement regarding LIV Golf Korea.
But where do you think LIV Golf Korea will take place this year? Tell us in the comments and read more at Daily Club Golf!
