Alex Fitzpatrick's career has quickly taken a turn for the better after a breakthrough win, making him change his DP World Tour ways. Now entering the PGA Tour’s Signature Events, Fitzpatrick is navigating a reality that he once only imagined.
In what has been a game-changing win for the Englishman at the Zurich Classic, Alex Fitzpatrick clinched first place with his brother, Matt, to earn a two-year exemption. It has earned him entry into the PGA Tour's elite Signature Events.
"I don't have a clue what's going on, I'm not going to lie to you," Fitzpatrick said about his rapid change in fortunes. He was set to leave for Turkey before his win.
Speaking at the pre-tournament presser for the 2026 Cadillac Championship, he remarked that it has provided him with some much-needed professional security that seemed like a distant dream just months ago, when he had to struggle to secure his tour card while playing in Europe.
According to Fitzpatrick, it was not until Saturday's media session that he realized the magnitude of what was happening. It added extra pressure knowing that there were some exemptions on offer, which made the last few holes on Sunday extremely stressful.
"It was like, oh, actually there's a lot to play for here," Fitzpatrick stated.
Fitzpatrick stayed up until 3:00 AM thinking about how his life would change after the tournament. He is yet to adjust to playing alongside the world's best golfers, with fans hoping to see some elite golf from the Englishman.

The emerging pro is currently experiencing the school's first-day kind of feeling at Trump National Doral as he gets accustomed to playing against the best golfers in the world.
"Just hearing that, you know, you playing against the best players of the world all of a sudden and even like the purses are obviously much bigger," he commented on his new surroundings.
Despite the sudden pressure, a message from Matt made him understand where he stands. The elder Fitzpatrick brother sent a text to remind him that he deserves to play on this level and to enjoy himself.
"As much as this win is both of us, you deserve to be here, you're playing some great golf, go out there and show them what you have," the text read.
Now, Fitzpatrick is trying to make a home of his own as he settles into this new phase. The goal is to maintain his current form and settle into the Tour's professional scene.
