"I'm Unconvinced...": Tommy Fleetwood Opens About Playing Par 3 Contest With Son

Apr 1, 2026, 10:30 AM CUT

Tommy Fleetwood's biggest test at the Masters might not be on the course. It may come during the Par 3 contest, where he's managing the expectations of his young son, Frankie.

The eight-year-old is determined to conquer a tricky shot over water. The main topic at home has been whether his son can make the tricky shot over water, and the 35-year-old has given his verdict.

"I'm unconvinced that he can carry it. He obviously very positively thinks that he can," Tommy Fleetwood quipped during his pre-tournament press conference at the Valero Texas Open. He's worried about the distance, but his son is practicing hard.

While Frankie Fleetwood has been trying to get the shot at least since 2024, he's yet to succeed.

However, Tommy Fleetwood is enjoying every moment of it. Fleetwood believes this is a special event because it allows families to have these unique experiences, unlike the pressure cooker environment of the actual Masters Tournament.

The current world no. 4 is currently riding a hot streak, having recorded seven top-10 finishes in his last ten events. He reached a milestone in 2025, winning the FedEx Cup championship triumphantly.

Tommy Fleetwood is redefining Success Beyond the Major Stage

Fleetwood is among the favorites at the Valero Texas Open, a spot he feels is a direct result of all his hard work. He believes he is at a world-class level after finishing the last season strongly on both the PGA TOUR and the DP World Tour.

Fleetwood's recent success is not limited to the traditional tour, as he has also celebrated a win in the innovative TGL. "There you go, we already have a trophy this year. TGL was great," he said, praising the new team-based format.

Winning the TGL tournament was a form of redemption for Tommy Fleetwood. "I still blame myself for us losing the semifinals last year. It actually upset me, I was really annoyed by it," he said after the win.

Fleetwood is focused on staying consistent while embracing these family moments on tour. Yet do you think his son can finally get the shot this year? Tell us in the comments.
