Getting into Augusta National Golf Club might be harder than gaining entry to the POTUS’ bunker in the White House. The exclusive, invitation-only club has often intrigued the golfers.
But with an invitation to the Masters Tournament, Chris Gotterup knows the troubles of getting into Augusta National.
Talking to the media during the presser at Bay Hill Club and Lodge, Gotterup said, “You can bring two guests with you, but you have to play with a member. So you just have to find someone that's willing to take you and spend the day.”
But Gotterup got lucky. He found a local who agreed to show him, his father, and his brother the entire course. They spent the entire day at Augusta National and played the par-3.

He continued, “I think if we went by ourselves and our caddie wanted to come with us we can go not whenever, but like you said, ask the pro and he'll tell us what days work.”
So, does that mean Gotterup had to call the professional Augusta National member himself? Well, he had someone do the honors. But he was the one who talked to the professional and got things sorted.
However, having earned the ticket to Augusta National, Gotterup wasn’t that surprised by the course.
Chris Gotterup Reveals His Experience at Augusta National
“I think that’s the one tournament or course where not having played I know every hole there,” the four-time PGA Tour winner said. “And it’s just something that everyone watches the Masters and knows Augusta National.”
But certain holes, like the second, caught him by surprise. Nevertheless, he assured that he’d prioritize these tough holes with the troublesome tee balls.
“A couple [tee shots], like hole 2 wouldn’t be a hole that suits my eye, preferably hitting a cut. So that’s something that I’ll touch on when I’m playing practice rounds or something fun beforehand.”
Augusta tests precision and discipline at every turn. Gotterup now prepares with purpose, determined to turn access into opportunity.
