Jon Rahm is looking to make amends. After a back-and-forth between him and the DP World Tour, it looks like the LIV golfer has finally relented.

"We keep trying to talk with them and negotiate with them what the best outcome is for both of us," Rahm said in the press conference. He hopes to reach a settlement that permits him to keep his status while avoiding an untenable, excessive workload.

Jon Rahm is currently involved in a complex dispute with the DP World Tour that could affect his ability to play in the Ryder Cup. The Legion XIII captain is still attempting to finalize negotiations to secure his participation in the 2027 matches.

This dispute was sparked by the Spaniard's decision to withdraw his appeal against the DP World Tour's sanctions, which has led many to question how he can satisfy the membership criteria while competing in the LIV Golf circuit.

The disagreement concerns how many events Rahm must play to stay a member in good standing. Rahm believes that the current demands of the tour are out of line with both his past participation and current contracts.

"They offered us a deal that I don't think was right. They offered us a deal that I don't think was right, but if they changed it for me to play a minimum of four events -- I don't think it's right that they're requiring people to play more golf than is already required for the agreement they have with them, then I would sign with them. What that means is that our signing fines get paid for and I get released to play LIV Golf this year.

Seeking Clarity Ahead of the Masters

As the boardroom battle unfolds, Rahm is trying to focus on the challenges ahead as Augusta National approaches.

"There's no golf course on the planet that can be comparable to Augusta National," Rahm stated.

Throughout 2025, he achieved 15 Top-10 finishes and four runner-ups, often delivering under pressure with rounds that challenged the field. Rahm earned $31.61 million in LIV Golf alone, including an $18 million bonus, and ranked No. 3 globally; he is only behind Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy. Even without individual victories, he has maintained elite statistical rankings and consistency across tours, demonstrating that the dominance in modern golf can be measured in multiple ways, with him excelling in earnings, points, and performance metrics despite an unusual winless streak. Rahm remained highly visible off the course in 2025, maintaining fan engagement despite not winning any individual tournaments. Meanwhile, he plans to focus on family, rest, and preseason preparation. Analysts and fans expect him to combine his consistency with potential trophy wins in 2026, building on the unusual yet dominant foundation of 2025. Even with no direct comparison, Rahm appreciates the type of pressure he believes is created by the local audience at LIV Golf South Africa. He feels the soothing presence of the local audience provides the same sense of pressure he is likely to experience at a major.

The Spaniard is in prime shape, as he is currently tied at number three and is on the heels of a solid effort in which his squad fired a staggering 28-under round. He puts this consistency down to a more precise short game and a high degree of comfort in his current putting and iron game.
