Justin Thomas’ Honest Take on Jordan Spieth as His Best Man Said a Lot About Their Bond

On November 4, 2022, Jordan Spieth stood as the best man for Justin Thomas’ wedding. But was Spieth competent enough to be a best man? Thomas thinks so.

During a conversation on GOLF’s Subpar last year, the 16-time PGA Tour winner admitted, "I hate to do this, but man, he crushed it. Didn’t lose the rings, which as you know Jordan, that’s always on the table."

But it was the speech that Thomas loved the most. Of course, as a close friend, Spieth had to throw in some "subtle jibes". But he had Thomas’ back, especially with the opening of the speech.

Talking about the opening lines, Thomas recalled, “It was something about like, what’s the line from Wedding Crashers? ‘They say love is one’s counterpart of the other,’ or whatever like that. And he’s like, ‘I’ve always known that to be true for Justin and I.’ It was just a great, great opening.”

Thomas told GOLF's Subpar, "I’m totally, obviously, botching most of the line, but it was funny. But I gotta give him an A+. He did well.”

Thomas was indeed referring to Rachel McAdams’ dialogue, “True love is the soul’s recognition of its counterpoint in another.” And with Spieth’s personalization, it gave the speech a hilarious touch.

But do you know how close the two golfers are?

Justin Thomas Hails Jordan Spieth For His Friendship

During his appearance on Netflix’s Full Swing documentary, Justin Thomas shed some light on his 20-year-long relationship with Jordan Spieth.

“He’s one of my best friends, we’re always going to pull for each other,” he said. "But at the same time, I hope that I beat him in every single tournament that we play in for the rest of our life."

The duo has always competed against each other. Be it a quest to be at the top of the Rolex Rankings during their junior golf period, making the cut at an amateur event, or leading their team’s scoring average, their competitive nature has kept things spicy between them.

Justin Thomas trusted Jordan Spieth with his biggest moment, and Spieth delivered effortlessly. That same trust fuels a friendship where loyalty and rivalry coexist without ever weakening their bond.

Do you know about any other golfers sharing a similarly amicable bonding?
