12 years after bringing a national title to the Crimson Tide, Justin Thomas has returned with a present for his alma mater

Justin Thomas has reaffirmed his strong connection to the University of Alabama. He made a major contribution to support the university’s golf programs and facilities through a $1 million donation.

"It's hard to put into words the love and feelings I have for The University of Alabama,” Thomas said, reflecting on his time at the University. "I was so lucky to be able to spend two incredible years playing under coach (Jay) Seawell. He and his wife, Stephanie, were, and still are, like family to me.”

During his time at the University of Alabama from 2011 to 2013, Thomas competed for the Crimson Tide. He helped lead the men’s program to the 2013 NCAA Championship before turning professional.

“This dream of making the Crimson Reserve couldn't be done without Coach Seawell and (women's coach Mic) Potter and what they've done with the programs. I'm honored to have a very small part in it."

The money will go to the Crimson Reserve, Alabama’s dedicated golf training and development facility. The complex currently serves the golfers through locker rooms, lounges, meeting areas, recovery and nutrition areas, exercise rooms, putting lab, and three hitting bays with swing and flight analysis technology.

And Justin Thomas' former coaches are happy with the investment

With his previous visit to the University, Thomas claimed that it would always be his “happy place.” But the recent donation has put it all under a brighter spotlight. And it was clear from Coach Seawell's words.

"I am so proud of Justin and thankful for what he's meant to our program and the University of Alabama. He is a big part of the legacy of Alabama golf. It means so much that he would be willing to give back to the golf programs."

Even Mic Potter admitted that Alabama women’s golf was grateful for Thomas’ commitment and his investment in the young athletes.

“Justin Thomas' impact on Alabama Golf goes beyond the course, and we are thankful that he is giving back to the sport that he excelled in during his time at Alabama and currently in the PGA."
