Lauren Coughlin Holds Lead but Admits Shadow Creek Leaving No Margin for Error

Coughlin continues to hold a slim lead of two strokes going into the final round at Shadow Creekafter a tough third round at the Aramco Championship.
Her performance shows she is mentally and technically strong under high pressure in Las Vegas. The lead is especially significant as Coughlin continues to establish herself on tour and build consistency at the highest level.
"Yeah, as you've probably seen, this golf course is really, really hard, especially if you get in the wrong spot," Coughlin admitted after her third round of the Aramco Championship.
These comments followed a third round in Las Vegas, where the wind and terrain required the leader to play a conservative game to protect her standing.
Coughlin managed to survive the difficult test by limiting the damage: "If I did get a little out, making sure I walked away with no worse than bogey."
Experience Navigating the Desert Treasure
After playing for four years at Shadow Creek, Coughlin used her detailed knowledge of the course to avoid areas that had caused problems for other competitors.
"I think in the past I've been in some places you really, really don't want to be," she revealed, giving a glimpse of her approach to avoiding trouble spots.
She managed to secure a par on the 15th hole, which provided the momentum needed to close out her round strongly, finishing with a birdie on the 18th hole.
Referring to her birdie on the 18th hole, she noted, "I saw where Nelly was on the 18th green and I just kind of told myself, I've made these putts before, so I'm going to make this one, too."
Her accuracy was evident, as she missed only 13 greens in regulation, an important statistic given the difficulty of evaluating chip shots from the heavy intermediate fringe grass.
The final round will pit Coughlin against her good friend Nelly Korda. A single inaccurate stroke at Shadow Creek Golf Course can undo any advantage in an instant.
