After dating for about seven years, Lily Muni He and Alex Albon announced their engagement in January 2026. But the F1 driver made sure to make the proposal a ‘romantic’ one, right under the sky full of stars. 

Talking to the media at the PIF Saudi Ladies International, the Chinese golfer revealed, “We were in Big Sur at the end of our training camp. So, we did a week and a half of training camp, two weeks in LA and Palm Springs, and then we flew to Big Sur just for a few days of, like, a little holiday.” 

“And we were at night, stargazing. So, it was very romantic.”

But did she expect it? Was she ready for the big question with her nails painted? Not really! 

“No, he did a really good job,” Muni He admitted. “I was a bit surprised. My nails were not done. But like, not awful either. So, it worked out. But yeah, it’s been a really good off-season.” 

Although the couple is often spotted cheering for each other at their better half’s competition, they’ve kept their relationship out of the spotlight. However, when it came to the proposal, they had to make a public announcement.

About three weeks ago, the F1 driver shared a picture of himself and Muni He on Instagram. Therein, the golfer sported the engagement ring on her ring finger, with a bright smile on both of their faces. 

Happy with Muni He’s response, Albon captioned the post, “I guess we’re stuck with each other now ❤️😊.”

Despite the low profile of their seven-year-old relationship, Albon and Muni He have filled their respective social media profiles with visuals of their escapades. But being at the top of their sports, the couple has to spend a lot of time away from each other. And that subtle understanding played a huge role in their relationship’s success. 

Back in 2022, Albon opened up on that and stated, "On top of everything, we understand and we get each other. We started our sports as rookies, and we‘ve gone through tough times together. The highs and lows of being an athlete, I think you can resonate that with any athlete.”

The proposal marked a new chapter. Now, Lily Muni He and Alex Albon are moving forward together, balancing elite sport with a lasting partnership.
