With Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed returning to the PGA Tour from LIV Golf, all eyes are focused on the line between the two leagues. But Justin Rose made a statement to blur these lines. 

After winning the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open, Rose weighed in on the historical moments at Torrey Pines. He acknowledged how surreal the win felt. After all, he became the first golfer in 71 years to win the event without sharing the lead in the four rounds. Yet, he remained humble when asked about his feelings on cementing his legacy at Torrey Pines. 

Addressing the media at the post-tournament presser, Rose said, “Obviously, I watched Tiger here many years kind of hit so many amazing shots, hole amazing putts. Jon Rahm from the back of the green, Jason Day winning here a couple of times for sure.” 

“I feel I've been witness to that, so it's a big part of it. It's a bit surreal, always a bit surreal, but yeah, huge honor and privilege.”

Rose gave credit where it was due, and that didn’t matter if the golfers belonged on the PGA Tour or LIV Golf. And with that, the sharp edges around the leagues can be softened a bit. 

However, last year, Rose rejected the opportunity to compete in the Saudi-based league. But why? And what does he feel about having Koepka and Reed return to the tour?

Justin Rose Explains His LIV Decision and Commitment to the PGA Tour 

Rose’s career goals of competing in the major championships can only be attained through the European Tour and the PGA Tour. However, he still wishes to compete against the best players. And that keeps him motivated and pushes him to improve. 

That’s why, even though his Official World Golf Ranking dipped to 55 last year, he chose to stay on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour. But there’s more to the story. 

“It would have been easy to potentially do other things, but none of that excited me,” Rose stated. “And none of it gave me access to what I wanted to achieve.” 

Nevertheless, the win at the Farmers Insurance Open validated his decision to decline LIV Golf’s offer in the past. And regarding the influx of Patrick Reed and Brooks Koepka into the PGA Tour, Rose felt “good to see people wanting to play where it motivates them to be their best.”

Now, Justin Rose has won against the ones at the highest level. But can he continue to do so in the rest of the season?
