LIV Golf CEO Responds to Ongoing Uncertainty Over League’s Future

LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil issued an internal memo to staff. He addressed rumors regarding the league's sustainability and dismissed reports that the Saudi Public Investment Fund plans to reduce financial backing.
The constant speculation about the league's future has made it necessary for O'Neil to send an email to employees.
According to O'Neil, "I want to be crystal clear: Our season continues exactly as planned, uninterrupted and at full throttle." This is a clear statement that shows the league's official stance against any doubts about its finances.
It came after allegations that the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia could cut down its funding. Regardless of the speculation, the league will proceed with its plans, as they are already in the heart of the 2026 calendar.
The CEO tried to address the speculations head-on when he said, "While the media landscape is often filled with speculation, our reality is defined by the work we do on the grass." O'Neil emphasized the organization's increased scale and influence.
O'Neil considers the current phase of LIV Golf as part of the process. "The life of a startup movement is often defined by these moments of pressure," O'Neil stated in the memo.
Maintaining Momentum Amidst Global Speculation
"We have faced headwinds since the jump, and we've answered every time with resilience and grace," according to O'Neil. He believes that the best response that their organization can have at the moment is to provide the most compelling show in sports.
The declaration was made amid controversy in the golfing industry over potential mergers between the PGA Tour and PIF. According to the organization's CEO, the league will continue operating regardless of what happens during the negotiations.
"We signed up for this because we believe in disrupting the status quo," said the CEO. This reinforces the league's mission to disrupt professional golf.
The league has witnessed notable transfers in recent months, including Brooks Koepka's departure earlier this year. O'Neil is working to stabilize the league's reputation following these moves.
Now the league needs to deliver as it moves into the 2026 season. The next stop for LIV Golf is Mexico City, where everyone will be waiting to see how O'Neil's claims materialize.
