Dean Burmester received an incredible reception during LIV Golf South Africa at The Club at Steyn City. As a home favorite, he described the overwhelming feeling he experienced, adding that the moment was surreal.

Compared to other tours and LIV events, this reception stood out for its personal significance. While he has played before large crowds, competing at home with family present and national support made this moment uniquely meaningful in his career.

"It's a tear jerker," Burmester said as he looked at his wife, Melissa, and his parents, who were in the crowd. Family watching him play at this level made it more than just about golf, and he remarked, "To have a whole country behind me is amazing. I'm super proud of everything."

This peak in emotion reflects the family sacrifices made in the past, including his parents being forced to leave Zimbabwe. His parents have reportedly been moved to tears almost daily since his return, illustrating the deep affection South Africans have for him.

Burmester acknowledged his wife's dedication as a pillar of support, allowing him to concentrate on his profession. He remarked, "Without her support, and without her running after the kids 24/7 now, I wouldn't be able to do what I can do."

The golfer considers himself more of an entertainer than a sportsperson and loves both the game and the crowd. He experienced the support of an entire nation while walking the fairways of Steyn City and pointed out that it heightened the significance of each shot he played.

Striving for Team Glory in Midrand

Burmester stated that while the individual emotions were high, he remained focused on team play for the Southern Guards GC and was incredibly proud of his team, noting that all four players had a good day and scored well.

The team's success was helped by Branden Grace, who made a timely birdie on the 17th. Addressing the local favorites, Burmester added, "For us to be in the hunt for the team thing is incredible."

He reflected on his humble beginnings, where he started his career, met his wife, and played on the Sunshine Tour.

With the final round underway, the South African team is determined to win on home ground. For Burmester, a trophy would be the ultimate gift to the family and supporters who have remained by his side.
