LIV Golfers Tell the Golf Cart Stories They Probably Shouldn’t

Just hours ago, the Inaugural LIV Golf Showcase premiered on YouTube. And it brought some hilarious stories from the LIV All-Stars.

A segment in the awards special featured a few LIV golfers answering unusual questions. One such question was whether they ever crashed a golf cart. But the answers quickly took an entertaining turn.

Sergio Garcia went first. Opting for selective memory and light humor, he said, “I’ve crashed other things, but I don’t think I’ve crashed a golf cart.”

But Cleeks GC captain, Martin Kaymer, made an honest confession. Without diving into the entire picture, he simply stated, “I drove it into a lake before.”

Marc Leishman, however, had the most hilarious golf cart story. Suppressing his laughter, the Australian golfer said, “I actually ran over one of my best mates in a golf cart and then hit a tree.” With a small burst of giggles, he continued, “Leroy, sorry about that, mate.”

Leishman's tone made it obvious the story lived firmly in harmless, long-ago mishap territory. It’s a story that’s shared because everyone involved survived with nothing more than a good anecdote.

But for Jon Rahm, the on-course transport once became a lucky charm.

Golf Cart Proves Lucky for LIV Golf Star

On the 18th hole at the 2025 BMW PGA Championship, Rahm’s tee shot on the long par-5 almost went out of bounds. Fortunately, the ball ricocheted off the back of a golf cart parked right behind the gallery.

Rahm wasn’t going to let that fortune slide. He went ahead and lined himself up in the putting area with his next shot. Making a birdie, Rahm finished the championship at T13. Yes, on a different day, he would have walked away with a double bogey.

His escape became a reminder that in golf, a bit of luck can change everything in a heartbeat.

From crashes to lucky bounces, golf carts clearly have personalities of their own. Whether through laughter or fortune, they keep finding ways to steal the spotlight.

Do you know of any exciting stories involving a golf cart?
