Just three weeks ago, she was one of the biggest stories on the LPGA Tour. And now, Yana Wilson, ranked 191st in the world, made the decision to withdraw two days before the fourth major of the women's golf schedule was set to begin at Evian Resort Golf Club.
LPGA rookie Yana Wilson has withdrawn from the 2026 Amundi Evian Championship due to an unspecified illness, her agent confirmed on Monday, July 6, per Golfweek's Beth Ann Nichols.
Nichols added in her report that the 19-year-old had not yet made the trip to France when she pulled out of the tournament. And her spot in the 132-player field has been filled by Narin An, the world No. 142.
Wilson recently won her first-ever title at the Dow Championship, a team event in Michigan. Paired with Gina Kim in the LPGA's team event, Wilson closed with an 8-under 62 in four-ball play to finish at 17-under 263.
Apart from the Dow Championship, she tied for 49th at the Chevron Championship in April, the season's opening major. After that, she did not qualify for the U.S. Women's Open at Riviera in June.
If she gets back to full strength, her next expected stops are the ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open from July 23-26 before the fifth major of the season, the AIG Women’s Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes from July 30-August 2.
Yana Wilson isn't the only big name missing this week's major
Wilson's withdrawal is notable. But she isn't the only significant absence from a field that includes 23 of the top 25 players in the Rolex Rankings.
Minsol Kim, one of the hottest names on the KLPGA Tour, has chosen to stay in Korea and chase the Hana Bank Resort Women’s Open title at home rather than travel to France.
Angel Yin, who finished tied for fifth at Evian last year, is also missing. The two-time LPGA Tour winner previously withdrew from the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in June before her third round because of sudden illness.
Lexi Thompson will miss Evian for the sixth time since 2019. The 31-year-old, who stepped back from a full-time schedule after 2024, has made just five starts in 2026.
