Ludvig Åberg is leading the charge at The Players Championship. The young star is navigating the immense pressure at TPC Sawgrass with a simple mental strategy.
Åberg leads the tight competition, betting just ahead of Michael Thorbjornsen. He opened up about his process after a historic second round put him in contention for a career-defining win.
"Anytime I am in a high-pressure scenario, I have got to hit the brakes a bit because I tend to speed up a lot," Åberg noted after making history with a second-round 63.
"I tend to speed up my speech and my breathing, and I can get a bit anxious. I just have to take it easy, walk slowly, talk slowly, and make everything just [simple]," added the Swede as per Golf Digest.

Åberg's impressive second round featured two eagles and a handful of birdies, pushing him to a blistering 12-under par. Navigating this challenge highlights his rapid professional development.
Ludvig Åberg Is on the Rise
Åberg's lead comes after a recent strong finish at Bay Hill just last week. After an early illness that affected his start to the 2026 season, the young star has found his rhythm.
His current form is a stark contrast to last year's Players Championship, when he missed the cut. Currently, he leads the charts at 13-under par after three rounds and holds a three-shot lead against top competitors like Michael Thorbjornsen.
And as Thorbjornsen put it, the pair are quite familiar with one another's game.
“He was one of the guys in college that I looked up to, even though he’s only one year older than me. Very solid, very solid player," Thorbjornsen told reporters at Ponte Verde.
As the golfers prepare for Sunday's final round, do you think the 26-year-old can hold on to this all the way? Let us know in the comments.
