Ludvig Åberg is leading THE PLAYERS Championship. However, he couldn't look away during a fellow competitor's fight to make the weekend cut.
Si Woo Kim, who started alongside Åberg, began at the cut line and ended at T51, sharing the spot with the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.
Despite Woo’s finish in the second round, Åberg looked at him as a “fun player” while talking to the media at TPC Sawgrass. “He's fun to watch,” Åberg said.
“He hit some shots both today and yesterday where I'm like, ‘that's pretty cool,’” the golfer added at Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, on March 13.

After Collin Morikawa had to withdraw from the tournament following a back issue, Woo Kim and Åberg were left to play in twosomes. Of course, it was painfully slow, but Åberg got to note the rise and fall of Woo Kim.
“He ended up making a number on 17, which wasn't great,” he continued. “But great up-and-down on 18 to potentially make the cut.”
“That's what's fun about golf sometimes. You're trying to win tournaments, but you're also trying to make the weekend.”
But Åberg had a few honest takes regarding his own performance as well.
Ludvig Åberg Gets Honest About the Lead at THE PLAYERS Championship
Åberg didn’t really have a good start this season. He withdrew from the American Express and missed the cut for the Farmers Insurance Open. He couldn’t even secure a top 10 spot at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and Genesis Invitational.
But things changed at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, where he finished T3rd. And now, he’s leading at THE PLAYERS Championship. So, what’s the change he brought in his game this year?
“I saw some nice things over the weekend at Pebble in my game,” Åberg said. “I saw some nice things at Riv, even though I got off to a slow start in the tournament. Just kind of progressively getting better.”
He’s understood a little bit more of what’s important for his swing, and he’s sticking to that. “I think my mind is very good when it's simple, and when things are very easy, and that's what I've felt like I've been able to do over the last couple of weeks.”
The question now is whether he can maintain his lead through the weekend. Tell us what you think in the comments.
