Michelle Wie West is returning to the LPGA Tour. She announced her comeback as a sponsor invite for the upcoming Mizuho Americas Open.

While the former LPGA star didn't hint at a full-time return to competition, she is ending her retirement for a limited LPGA schedule.

"I thought, you know, might drop my name in the hat there and would like to announce that our first sponsor invite goes to me," Wie West said during the Mizuho Americas Open press conference.

The player took the opportunity to invite herself for a sponsor exemption and will compete in her first-ever LPGA tournament since 2023, linking her legendary career with her leadership one.

Her career has been financially significant, with on-course earnings totaling $7,840,208. Spotrac's total earnings list provides an overview of her best periods, notably 2014, when she earned $1,924,796 after winning the U.S. Women's Open.

Her consistency remained a hallmark of her professional tenure. Even though she played only a few tournaments in 2018, she won $556,322, and Michelle Wie West remains an icon.

A New Chapter for Michelle Wie West?

Life away from the tour has shifted the champion's perspective on tournament preparation. Reconciling motherhood with sports requires a completely different mindset when it comes to training and preparation.

"Practice looks a lot different now than when I was playing full-time, back when I was single and no kids," Michelle Wie West pointed out regarding her comeback.

Now, she prefers quality over quantity in practice sessions. For instance, it is not uncommon for her to turn practice into a family affair, where she can be found playing with her husband and daughter.

Even with less time spent practicing, Michelle Wie West maintains high levels of physical activity, claiming she averages about 15,000 steps per day, including while doing housework or entertaining her kids.
