More Than a Shoe: Maurice Allen and adidas Golf Celebrate Black History Month in Style

Feb 22, 2026, 3:42 PM CUT

For Maurice Allen, golf is more than just a swing. His latest collaboration with Adidas Golf for Black History Month shows that shoes can be sources of pride, heritage, and hope.

This collaboration features a custom Adipower shoe with a Black, Green, and Red color scheme. The design is a tribute to the people who first opened the doors for Black people in a very exclusive sport.

Allen elaborates on the meaning of the collaboration when he says, "This is not just a colorway. It is a continuation." He brings to the fore the acronym F.A.T.W.H.A.T.W., standing for "For All Those Who Helped Along The Way", in honor of his lineage.

Some design features, like the translucent outsole and tricolor stripes, are added to identify the performance shoe. Allen brings to the fore the convergence of faith, family, and the future of the sport by turning a performance shoe into a piece of narrative, removing the sport from the shoe.

A Legacy Beyond the Long Drive

Allen's history is very instrumental in putting this release into context. As a four-time Long Drive World Champion, he endured significant adversity, including living out of his car. This, in part, is what drives his passion to motivate others.

His father's vision and his own grit are what this particular Adipower model signifies. This model is not for sale; it is a sticker to remind others to "run hard and pass it on."

For a long time in golf's history, Black History Month has seen very little representation in equipment. This collaboration, along with the rest of the collection, is a much-needed acknowledgement of the great sacrifices made by the true innovators of the game, honoring their efforts with fashionable, purposeful performance gear.

Adequately, like most athletes, Allen's advocacy is also commendable. Off the course, Allen's collaboration with adidas is pioneering. It shifts the golf narrative from a more commercial, marketing-driven story to one that speaks to all golfers.
