Nelly Korda Suffers Unusual Dip After Months of Dominance on LPGA Tour

Nelly Korda, of Bradenton, Florida, prepares to tee off during the LPGA Kroger Queen City Championship fourth round at Maketewan Country Club in Cincinnati on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

Nelly Korda's winning streak has officially hit an unexpected roadblock on the LPGA Tour. The world number one faces a challenging phase after a historic stretch in 2026.

The slump happened at the Kroger Queen City Championship at Maketewah Country Club in Cincinnati. Korda finished tied for eighth place, marking her first time outside the top two this season after seven consecutive starts. Korda admitted to the difficulties on the course, according to Associated Press.

"There have definitely been some loose shots," Korda admitted, grinding through the tournament rounds. "Not really happy with the way I'm hitting it right now, but overall, I mean, I'm not complaining."

The American powerhouse shot rounds of 69, 67, 72, and 67 to finish at 5-under par overall. This left her seven strokes behind champion Lottie Woad, a massive contrast to her previous commanding form.

Kords did not seem too worried about the setback. She hoped to find her way back through practice sessions.

"Hopefully, I can go figure something out again on the range after today."

Before this Cincinnati setback, Korda dominated the LPGA field with consistent scoring throughout the season. Her play established a significant lead over the rest of the tour

She previously captured titles at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions and the Chevron Championship. She followed that up with a dominant wire-to-wire victory at the Riviera Maya Open.

Nelly Korda is Looking for a Resurgence at Riviera

Next up for the superstar is the highly anticipated U.S. Women's Open at Riviera Country Club in June. The upcoming major will provide the test for her technical adjustments.

Korda recently spoke out regarding her updated mental approach.

"Mentally being on the golf course, just really enjoying it, knowing that I am going to make mistakes and that it's OK. It's not going to ruin my round. That it's OK to bounce back."

Fans will hope she is able to put this mentality into action in June.

Her performance in the previous edition of the U.S. Women's Open was clinical. She put up an incredible display of ball-striking to finish tied for second place at Erin Hills.

During that stellar run, she ranked first in strokes gained off the tee and hit 56 of 72 greens in regulation. She will look to replicate that same level of elite execution at Riviera.

The big question now is how the top-ranked star handles this minor adversity moving forward.

Do you think Nelly Korda's setback will trigger a longer struggle or a quick revival? Let us know in the comments.
