Nelly Korda’s Words for Lauren Coughlin After Aramco Championship Win Say Plenty

Apr 6, 2026, 12:30 PM CUT

Nelly Korda's class was on full display after a tough loss in Las Vegas. While she didn't win the Aramco Championship, her immediate reaction proved why she remains a top role model on the LPGA tour.

As the World No. 2 player, she entered the final round in contention but fell behind at the difficult Shadow Creek course.

Despite the disappointment, she made sure to give credit to the winner, Lauren Coughlin, saying, "Props to Lauren. She played some unbelievable golf. It was really fun to see today, and it was fun to play alongside her."

The praise came after a Sunday when Korda finished two under par, trailing by five shots behind Coughlin's seven-under-par total.

Korda struggled on the course, managing just one birdie on the final hole after dealing with poor tee shots and difficult lies near the greens.

Reflecting on her game, Korda noted, "I was hitting it pretty poorly off the tee and just finding myself in really tough positions going into the greens."

Chasing Legends and Finding Perspective

While Korda was unable to clinch the title this time, it is evident from history that even the greatest golfers have been runners-up at different stages of their careers.

LPGA legend Kathy Whitworth, who holds the record for the most tournament wins with 88 titles, was a runner-up 93 times in her career.

This perspective was reflected in Korda's statement: "If you actually really think about it, you lose more than you win, so you have to always pick yourself back up."

Korda will continue to stay dedicated to her routine, as she said, "I'm just going to continue doing what I'm doing, and hopefully that leads me to a victory."

She views the tough Shadow Creek course as perfect preparation for major events. Congratulating her opponent immediately showcased her championship mentality.
