Nick Faldo’s Shirt Sparks Flashback That Greg Norman Won’t Forget at the Masters

Nick Faldo just reopened a 30-year-old wound for Greg Norman. Appearing on the Golf Channel, Faldo wore the exact shirt from his legendary Masters comeback.

Appearing on the Golf Channel, Faldo showed up in an outfit that he wore when he defeated Greg Norman at that 1996 final.

"Do you recognize anything? 1996. Here it is. 30 years old. Same shirt," Faldo commented, unveiling the very shirt he wore, but Noram couldn't believe it at first.

"It's a duplicate," said Norman, to which Faldo responded, saying it was the same green jacket from three decades ago. In fact, the 68-year-old even joked about the fabric stretching over time.

"I can't get my arms above that. It sticks," he laughed. During that legendary Masters clash, Nick Faldo had entered the final six strokes behind Norman.

However, by the time the dust settled, he had shot 67 to Norman's 78. Flado completely flipped the script on Norman, who would ultimately never win the Masters. Yet that was far from the only chapter in their intense rivalry.

Nick Faldo and Greg Norman's rivalry continues

While Faldo wearing the same outfit three decades later may seem like a lighthearted joke, the duo never really settled their rivalry.

"We never had any sort of relationship. We were chalk and cheese. He was a loner, I couldn't be like him," Norman told The Telegraph's James Corrigan ahead of the 2026 Masters on Tuesday.

Even the famous embrace between these rivals in 1996 following their match has not been spared. Greg Norman dismisses it, saying, "It didn't really mean much to me, because I knew he'd soon go back to being the way he was before."

However, Nick Faldo isn't ready to let Greg Norman's statement go unanswered. "I'm going to release a statement on Monday out of respect for the tournament," he told The Mirror on Wedensday.

It may be safe to assume that Norman's statement ahead of the Masters was part of the reason he wore that 30-year-old jacket.
