Over One-Minute-Long Pre-Shot Routine at Augusta National Women's Amateur Draws Fan Frustration

A viral video from the Augusta National Women's Amateur has sparked fierce debate. The clip shows golfer Bailey Shoemaker taking over a minute for a pre-shot routine, and fans weren't too happy with it.
The lengthy pre-shot routine by Bailey Shoemaker has sparked debate about the pace of play and the contentious issue of 'slow play' worldwide.
This was evident in a viral video posted by the social media account "themechanic," where Shoemaker is seen taking an incredibly long time over a shot. "I would have already been on the green waiting before she pulled the trigger," the user wrote in the caption.
A year ago, Shoemaker struck and immediately felt a shock through her right arm. The debilitating pain tormented her for nearly seven
While Shoemaker was taking her time over a shot, the commentator noted how difficult this moment was. "This is part of her routine... [she's] had difficulty in pulling the trigger," said the announcer. However, that did little to change the fans' opinions.
Fans Erupt Over Glacial Pace
“DQ. Fine. Suspension,” commented one user. Meanwhile, others left comments like "horrific" and "ridiculous."
Some were sarcastic. “I watched this video during my entire commute home,” commented one user, while another jokeingly responded: “stuck in traffic too.”
A year ago, Shoemaker felt a shock right after hitting a 3-wood on her second hole during the final round of the Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate.
The injury put her out for the rest of the year. Shoemaker revealed she had to endure excruciating pain and even had to undergo surgery to fix cubital tunnel syndrome in her right arm on October 16, 2025. However, the sarcasm kept coming.
When the user mentioned the regular golfer would already be on the green, another retorted, “You would have been in the water, then the sand trap, and then maybe the green.”
The situation led some users to question the post's timing. One X-user asked if the video was simply an “April Fools” joke. Yet, what is your reaction? Tell us in the comments.
