Patty Tavatanakit Gives Honest Take as Question About Chasing Nelly Korda Comes Up at the Chevron Championship

Patty Tavatanakit enters the final round of the 2026 Chevron Championship five strokes behind leader Nelly Korda. The 2021 champion is prioritizing a carefree mindset over scoreboard pressure at Memorial Park.
Competing in the "heat" and "humidity" at Memorial Park Golf Course, the Thai golfer was asked about her position heading into the final round behind Nelly Korda.
However, Tavatanakit revealed that she didn't have any strategy in mind. "I'm not sure," she said during her post-round presser after scoring 11-under par.
"I feel like every day I've just been like figuring out like golf and it's been really nice, and it's been enjoyable, and again I'll go figure it out tomorrow," added Patty Tavatanakit.

Front-runner Nelly Korda stands 16-under par. Meanwhile, the 2021 champion is more interested in working on herself than worrying about the scores shown on the leaderboard.
Tavatanakit admitted that, although the scorers were walking with them, she was not trying to chase birdies.
Patty Tavatanakit is only focused on the game
Tavatanakit stressed that she has nothing to lose and will continue with her signature aggressive playstyle.
"As long as you're playing golf, you're going to make bogeys and miss putts," said Tavatanakit, illustrating how she has embraced the nature of the game.
However, Nelly Korda has been in peak form in the first two rounds. Scoring 65 in the first two rounds gave the World No. 2 a big five-stroke lead.
In fact, had she not missed three 4-foot putts on the back nine, Korda may have held an eight-stroke lead heading into the final round.
Korda is currently 16-under par. So, Tavatanakit and the rest of the field, who are at 11-under, will find themselves in an uphill battle on the last 18 holes in Houston.
