PGA Tour Event Set to Be Hosted at President Donald Trump’s Course Secures a Title Sponsor

The PGA Tour has finalized a major commercial partnership that will bring one of its marquee events back to Donald Trump’s course, the Trump National Doral, in 2026, with Cadillac returning as the event’s title sponsor.

Following Cadillac’s withdrawal after the 2016 event, the PGA Tour also stopped its visit to the course. But now, the story is taking an interesting turn.

Doral is indeed joining with the Cadillac Championship, slated for April 30 to May 3, 2026. And the credit shall go to the POTUS, Donald Trump, for making it happen. On top of that, Cadillac is reportedly investing more than $20 million a year to support the championship’s purse and commercial framework.

The event’s April date places it during a marquee stretch of the season between the Masters Tournament and the PGA Championship, enhancing its competitive relevance. The CEO of the PGA Tour, Brian Rolapp, was utterly pleased with the announcement.

He said, “We are pleased to welcome back Cadillac, a world-class brand whose partnership with the PGA TOUR is synonymous with Trump National Doral, a legacy venue on our schedule. We appreciate the support of Cadillac as we bring a new era of the PGA TOUR to our fans in Miami.”

The vice president of PGA Tour Events, Jordan Uppleger, stated, “The opportunity to return to Trump National Doral was one we were excited to pursue given the PGA Tour’s rich history of hosting events on the Blue Monster.”

Thanks to Donald Trump, the Doral Golf Resort & Spa revived from bankruptcy in 2012, with $150 million on the line. Although it began hosting the WGC-Cadillac Championship in 2011. The event later went to Mexico City from 2017 to 2020.

Earlier in February 2025, the POTUS had a meeting with the PGA Tour commissioner, Jay Monahan, the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia governor, Yasior Al-Rumayyan, a PGA Tour policy board player director, Adam Scott, and Tiger Woods. That's when the group decided to bring the PGA Tour back

And now, after a full circle, it’s back with the Trump Organization.

But what does this mean for the PGA Tour?

Why Donald Trump’s Doral Is Back in Play for the PGA Tour in 2026?

The PGA Tour’s expected return to Trump National Doral in 2026 reflects a commercially driven recalibration. SBJ previously reported that the PGA Tour viewed Doral as a venue after the April-May 2026 window opened up, specifically, after the end of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans on April 26, and the start of the Truist Championship on May 7, 2026.

Cadillac’s departure from Trump’s course was actually because of sponsorship loss. It had no problem with course quality or other logistics. That’s the reason why the course hosted LIV Golf events from 2022 to 2025. With LIV Golf not planning to stage an event there in 2026, the course reopened as a viable PGA Tour option at a time when the Tour is tightening its schedule around premium events.

Eric Trump, the executive vice president of The Trump Organization, further shared his excitement, highlighting the history of the event with the course. Trump National Doral has hosted the PGA Tour for about 54 years. And the WGC Cadillac Championship has played a massive role in that.
