Korn Ferry Tour player Ben Kohles packed his clubs Sunday night unsure how he'd hold up the next day, but turned a Korn Ferry Tour win into a coveted U.S. Open berth in a 24-hour stretch.
The American pro delivered back-to-back performances in two states showing elite stamina and skill.
"We are going to Charlotte to fly to DC and play Woodmont tomorrow. I don't even know what my tee time is," Kohles shared while packing his clubs.
The tight turnaround left no room for celebration, only logistics.
Kohles shot 15-under 268 to earn a four-shot victory at the BMW Charity Pro-Am on Sunday. Right after the win, Kohles said a quick goodbye to his family to catch an evening flight.
The golfer arrived just in time for the grueling U.S. Open final qualifying stage. He was scheduled to compete at the challenging Woodmont Country Club.
The veteran showed no signs of fatigue during "golf's longest day." He delivered a clinical performance over 36 holes to finish tied for second place on the North Course and secure his spot at the 2026 U.S. Open, scheduled from June 18 to 21 at Shinnecock Hills.
It should be noted that Kohles achieved these results with an overall score of 7-under par, carding a 65 and a steady 70 on Monday.
Overcoming Extreme Season Fluctuations for Major Glory
Notably, the breakthrough came during one of the most unpredictable seasons of Kohles' career across America's two premier tours. The 2026 season has seen him display marked inconsistency in his form.
On the PGA Tour, Kohles struggled to find a consistent scoring rhythm. He missed consecutive cuts at high-profile events like the Charles Schwab Challenge and THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson.
His brightest result came earlier at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, where he teamed with Lanto Griffin to finish tied for 13th.
However, upon returning to the Korn Ferry Tour, Kohles was able to show his best form once again. At the Visa Argentina Open in February, he recorded an impressive sixth-place finish and tied for 10th at the Bahamas Great Abaco Classic in January.
Even after missing three straight cuts on the Korn Ferry Tour, Kohles found his form, turning a breakthrough week into a BMW Charity Pro-Am victory and U.S. Open qualification. He now heads to Shinnecock Hills with plenty of momentum.
