Scottie Scheffler might be the foremost force in professional golf, but he maintains his position at the top through dedication that is hardly visible to fans.

Coming off his second-place finish at The Masters, the world number one showed perseverance by scoring 3-under par in the first round of the RBC Heritage despite being tired and playing in difficult evening conditions.

"In order for me to be ready to come out here and compete, I have to do things physically that I need to do in the gym," Scheffler stated when discussing his post-Augusta recovery.

Scheffler spoke at Harbour Town Golf Links about the physical maintenance required to stay at the top of the leaderboard.

The conversation began with Max Homa mentioning that, unlike other players who feel drained after a big tournament, Scheffler always seems to continue with long training sessions at the gym.

Scheffler admitted he is not practicing as much on the course after competing because he is mentally drained, but his gym routine remains consistent.

Scheffler’s start at the RBC Heritage comes at a key point in the season. He arrived second in the FedEx Cup standings, right on the leader’s heels, so a week like this can quickly shift things in his favor.

Mastering the Post-Major Recovery

The necessity of such a routine was explained by Scheffler, who said, "Especially when you're in contention, it takes a lot out of you mentally."

Even during periods when the world number one does not play well, he sticks to his training program to maintain his technical performance.

"I'm pretty religious when it comes to my process approaching tournaments, and the gym and taking care of my body is always a huge part of that," Scheffler mentioned.

This disciplined focus ensures that he remains a positive influence on young golfers, showing that success is built on consistent work behind the scenes.

"If I can be a positive influence on someone's life, that's a great thing," Scheffler concluded, explaining that his success is the result of dedication.
