He has shown us why he is World Number One by winning the 2026 American Express. He posted 27-under-par with a total score of 261, winning by four strokes. But there’s more to this victory. 

At the age of 30, he has become only the third player in PGA Tour history to reach 20 tour wins and at least four major championship wins.

He was up against none other than Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus. 

Scheffler achieved this feat in 151 starts. Meanwhile, Woods did it in 95 starts, while Nicklaus marked his 20th victory after his 127th start. 

But how does Scheffler feel about joining the ranks of Woods and Nicklaus?

“It’s pretty wild,” the 2026 AmEx champion confessed. “It’s been a great start to my career, and I’ve had some nice wins out here. Yeah. It’s been special.” 

“I try not to really think about that stuff too much going into the season. I was just trying to do the things I needed to do in order to be prepared to come out and play this week.”

Additionally, the 29-year-old has become the first golfer since Rory McIlroy (2021 CJ Cup) to win 20 PGA Tour events. And he’s only the 40th individual to do so. 

Even the 18-year-old Blades Brown, who tied at the top of the leaderboard with Scheffler in the second round, failed to match the number one's dominance.

During his post-win interview, Scheffler was asked to weigh in on his journey to the wins in the last four years. 

The world number one answered, “It’s been wild. But it’s been a lot of fun. It’s definitely a blessing to be sitting here as the champion this week. And I don’t really know what to say, to be honest with you.” 

And by the end of it, all Scottie Scheffler wanted to do was get home, rest, and “rinse and repeat.” He’s preparing himself for action at the Phoenix Open (February 5, 2026). But can he continue to win his 21st championship at TPC Scottsdale?
