Scottie Scheffler is in elite company. He now stands with legends like Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods. Ahead of the $20M PLAYERS Championship, he now has the chance to join Jack Nicklaus' record with an incredible feat. When asked about it, he said:

“Any time you get mentioned with somebody like Jack Nicklaus, it means you're doing something right. I'm not going to step into the tournament thinking about winning. I'm going to be stepping on the first tee trying to execute and do what I normally do. But any time you're getting mentioned with Mr. Nicklaus, something good's going on.”

Scheffler has already won two PLAYERS titles in 2023 and 2024. While he lost last year, he's a clear favorite this time. Scheffler has already won The American Express, followed by top-five finishes at the WM Phoenix Open and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Although he seemed shaky at The Genesis, Scheffler's form looks solid. And if he does, he will match Nicklaus' record at the event. That's why Scheffler added:

“To have the opportunity to win not only one of those but multiple, it's almost like, you hit a really good shot in there, and you want to hole the putt to kind of validate the good shot. Sometimes being able to win those tournaments a second time is almost even more validation for the first, that it wasn't a fluke, I really did it.”

He contended for the win six times last year. The list includes his wins at the PGA Championship and The Open Championship. For now, he certainly hopes to claim a few more wins in the future. And that includes a potential win next week.

His connection to Nicklaus extends beyond just wins at THE PLAYERS and major tournaments.

Scottie Scheffler Joined Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods With His Early-2026 Feat

The 29-year-old started the 2026 season with a victory at the American Express, raising his PGA Tour wins to 20, including more than four major championship wins. And only Nicklaus and Woods are the other players to have achieved this feat before they turned 30.

Reflecting on the achievement, Scheffler said, “It’s pretty wild. You know, it’s been a great start to my career, and I’ve had some nice wins out here. And yeah, it’s been special. I try not to really think about that stuff too much.”

With that, he also finished in the top 10 in 16 consecutive starts. That’s the longest streak by any player since 1970.

For now, he’s focused on the Arnold Palmer Invitational and THE PLAYERS Championship.
