Golf supremacy is at its peak, with Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy locked in an intense statistical battle that is only set to escalate further in the 2026 season.

As the PGA Tour schedule picks up pace, the comparison between the top two players in the rankings tells an impressive story of dominance and efficiency, particularly in terms of earnings.

"How the top two-ranked players in the world stack up against each other so far," mentions a post by Golf Digest, highlighting the narrow gap between the two players.

The Golf Digest post comes at a time when the early-season swing has ended, during which both players emerged victorious in their respective tournaments without missing any cuts.

According to Sportrac, Scottie Scheffler is second with around $8.4 million on the 2026 PGA Tour earnings list, largely due to his ability to finish among the top ten in five events. Rory McIlroy is on the fifth with about $6.7 million in earnings but falls behind in "Top Fives," with two near the top finishes compared to Scheffler's five.

Scheffler opened 2026 with one win and multiple top finishes. This matches his 2025 season where he won six times and had 17 top-10s without missing a cut, making him lead the PGA Tour in earnings.

A Historic Duel for the Green Jacket

Their rivalry intensified at the Masters just a few days ago at Augusta National Golf Club, where the two battled until the end in the opening major tournament of the season.

McIlroy finished at 12-under par, successfully defending his Green Jacket, and becoming the first one to do so since Tiger Woods in 2001-02.

Scheffler became the runner-up, finishing at 11-under par. The late charge left him shy of pushing the game into a playoff. Even with the loss, his overall earnings kept him at the No. 2 spot on the official 2026 money list.

His consistency is reflected in his edge in having multiple top-five results for this season. McIlroy, however, has the advantage of winning on the bigger stage, keeping the Player of the Year race open.

At this pace, the final three majors are set to have a big influence on who ultimately finishes the season as the world’s best golfer.
