After Brooks Koepka bid farewell to LIV Golf, Talor Gooch became the new captain of Smash GC. This marked a new chapter for one of the league’s most consistent performers.

However, his opportunities in major championships have been limited compared with his PGA Tour years, even as his LIV results have drawn attention.

How Did Talor Gooch Perform in the Major Championships After Joining LIV Golf?

After joining the roster of the Saudi-backed league, Gooch missed the cut for the 2022 U.S. Open and ended up at the T34 position at The Open Championship. In 2023, He finished at T34 in the Masters Tournament and missed the cut for both, PGA Championship and The Open Championship.

Last year, we saw Talor Gooch in only one major tournament – the PGA Championship, finishing T60 with a total score of 280, -4 to par. In 2024, he stood at the 214th spot in the Official World Golf Rankings. And that meant he had to miss the season’s majors.

Weighing in on that, he explained, "You know, being able to play in the majors, it's the pinnacle of golf. And so, of course, if I don't get that chance, that's going to suck."

"So hopefully people will get together in the golf world and figure out how do we make sure the best of the best are playing in the best tournaments year-in and year-out, which are the majors.”

How Much Money Did the LIV Golfer Earn After Joining the League?

From the 2022 Open Championship, Talor Gooch earned $68,906. At the 2023 Masters Tournament, he took home a sum of $97,200. And his last major appearance in 2024 came with a paycheck of $27,016.

However, Gooch’s move to LIV Golf proved to be lucrative. His biggest LIV event payout came from a win at the 2023 LIV Golf Adelaide, totaling about $4 million. In 2023, he earned about $18 million from bonuses alone.

In comparison, Gooch’s PGA Tour career earnings before defecting totaled more than $9.2 million, reflecting his moderate success on the traditional circuit prior to LIV. With 48 events in the league, he added to his bank balance by a total of $65,899,530.
