Joaquin Niemann has added yet another trophy to his impressive collection after winning the individual LIV Golf Korea event at Asiad Country Club as the Torque GC captain. Niemann had endured great pressure in Busan but emerged victorious for the first time in the 2026 season.
After his record-breaking eighth individual league victory, Niemann gave his take on his continued success in the post-match presser. While being asked if winning starts to become routine, the champion replied,
" I feel like the last one is the best. I feel like it's going to be always like that. So yeah, just keeps getting better and better. The feeling is great, and I'm just happy."
The talented Chilean had a tough final round as well, relieving some pressure by salvaging a crucial five-footer par on the par-4 second and a seven-footer par on the par-3 third. He then went on the attack, making a birdie at the par five fourth hole and going on a roll by making three straight birdies from holes six through eight.
"I feel like -- I don't know, like making it so easy last year, I feel like I just look back to 2025, and it was so easy to win. It just happened. Then I just said it just happened, I feel like that's the way it should be, and I feel like I was forcing everything a little bit too much.
Just let things happen and just stick to my stuff, stick to my routine and just be part of the show." He added during the press conference as reported by Asap Text.
In this thrilling match, Niemann and Gooch were tied at 12-under 268 after the regulation round. The 27-year-old Torque GC skipper entered the playoff tied with Gooch on the par-4 18th, where he showed incredible form, landing his approach shot from 150 yards to six feet.
"I love having that pressure, knowing that you've got to hit the shot and you win the tournament," Niemann later shared regarding the playoff finish. He held off Gooch's 12-under finish and DeChambeau's solo third at 11-under 269.
Niemann Achieves Unprecedented League Dominance
The playoff win in Busan is no less than an astoundingly significant achievement, making him the undisputed greatest individual competitor in the league, having won eight times, which is a record for an individual.
The incredible climb to the eighth trophy by the Chilean captain started during the outstanding year of 2024 when he managed to secure two individual victories in Mayakoba and Jeddah, becoming one of the prominent players on the international circuit.
Building from his initial achievements, Niemann had yet another impressive season in 2025 when he clinched an extraordinary five wins. He followed up his outstanding victory in Adelaide with wins in Singapore and Mexico City on a trot.
However, the start of the current year was far from ideal as he experienced a streak of several months without a win. Niemann confessed that trying too hard to repeat previous success interfered with the routine he was accustomed to.
"Just let things happen and just stick to my stuff, stick to my routine... I really enjoy the feeling of winning again," Niemann explained during his post-round press conference.
Now that he has eight individual trophies to add to his record, the captain of the Torque GC team has two additional titles compared to any other player in the league's history.
