Bunkers can become the difference between a win and a heartbreaking loss for any golfer.

Over the years, Tiger Woods learned from the mistake of using a 60-degree wedge in bunkers, and it has certainly helped him.

A month ago, Tiger Woods and Scottie Scheffler engaged in a very rare technical conversation. In one of TaylorMade's content sessions, Woods explained how he approached greenside sand shots.

"I like a 56 myself. I grew up without a 60, so I'm just used to having that face open," Woods said.

In the video titled "Tiger Woods vs. Scottie Scheffler: The Bunker Secret You Didn't Know!", it was shown how both players practiced their shots in different sand situations.

It seems that Woods' preference for one particular sand wedge goes beyond nostalgia. There is a technical aspect he considers when choosing his preferred club.

"I've found that when the sand gets heavier, my 60 doesn't work. It just goes too deep," Woods noted, highlighting the technical failure of the higher-lofted club in wet conditions.

Interestingly, while Woods preferred using a 56-degree wedge, also known as the Sand wedge, Scheffler's opinion was quite different.

"Typically a 60. I'll go all the way down to a nine-iron... I'd never use an 8. But for something like this, this short, usually a 60 for me," he said.

While using different wedges for bunker shots, both Woods and Scheffler have found major success in their careers, winning multiple Majors.

Tiger Woods and Scottie Scheffler Joked About Their Masters Championship Wins

This is another example of the consistency that has characterized Woods' game throughout his career, as he leans more on feel and tradition than on modern equipment to maintain his level of play.

The mood during the same event lightened as Scheffler, no stranger to winning a couple of Masters titles himself, showed off his bunker skill by just missing the ball, which was very close to the pin.

"That's why he's the Masters champion," Woods commented, which led Scheffler to jokingly ask how many times he had won the tournament.

Woods replied with modesty, "A couple. Just a few," before both men laughed about how, regardless of the number of titles, "you only get one jacket."

As Scheffler continues to reign supreme on today's PGA Tour, his interactions with Tiger help forge a connection between two generations of professional golfers.
