Tommy Fleetwood Addresses Growing Talk Around His On-Course Style: "I Spent 20 Years With..."

If there's one thing consistently grabbing headlines about Tommy Fleetwood, it's his apparel sponsor. And it reached a boiling point when Fleetwood was spotted at this week's tournament without his traditional attire featuring a logo.
At his pre-tournament press conference, Fleetwood opened up on this significant change in his professional image and attire. In light of the Blackstone logo appearing on his hat, Fleetwood said:
"I spent 20 years with one company who were amazing to me and had a great time, but there's so many different items out there in the golf world and in the fashion world. So I think I am both like part golf fan, like I still love a great golf logo and I still look to wear those, but also being able to wear stuff that obviously I've kind of chosen or sought out and that I feel comfortable in and that suits me, having that as well has been great. That's going to continue. That's been fun and that's been a good aspect."
The last few weeks have been a mix of experimentation for Fleetwood. Since parting ways with Nike, a sponsor that has been with Tommy for two decades, he was enjoying a new wave of freedom when it came to apparel on the course.
It has culminated in a partnership with the investment group Blackstone, with Fleetwood becoming an ambassador. However, that's his smallest concern at the moment.
Fleetwood is preparing for the major at hand, with the Masters looming large on the horizon. The course's challenging conditions suit his game. He says that this course cannot be overpowering and needs ball control.
Fleetwood believes this is an advantage for him at this week's tournament, especially given the windy conditions and the course's demand for an all-around game. He finished tied for seventh at this tournament in 2024.
A Consistent Winning Formula
He has accumulated seven top-10 finishes in his last 10 tournaments. Fleetwood takes pride in playing with as much consistency as possible, especially when playing with the world's top golfers.
This winning streak includes a recent trophy, and Fleetwood has had a successful season in the TGL, a tournament he describes as very special, especially after feeling like he let his team down during the semifinals the previous year.
"Winning was very, very special," Fleetwood said regarding his win in the TGL, especially when playing with an exceptional group of colleagues. He admits, however, that the tournament was much more competitive than he had initially thought when the tournament first started.
Now, with the Masters just a week away, Tommy Fleetwood will be gunning for his first-ever win at Augusta.
