Angel Ayora has done it again! For the second time, the young golf phenom has declined an invitation to join LIV Golf.

Capturing the 117th world rank has seemingly pushed the 21-year-old to stay true to the PGA Tour and decline an invitation from LIV Golf for the second time. And this time, the call came directly from Sergio Garcia.

Talking to Today’s Golfer’s Ben Parsons, the rising star revealed, “I told (Garcia) it was a pleasure for me to be a part of his team, but I told him my dream is to play on the PGA Tour, so I’m going to try to keep this path.” 

The all-Spanish franchise, Fireballs GC, had a lucrative offer for Ayora, although the numbers are yet to be revealed. But for Angel Ayora, there’s a bigger dream he needs to follow through. 

“I want to be at the top 50 in the world and I want to play the majors and everything, so I think the right path for me is to stay here on DP and trying to get a PGA Tour card and play there.” 

Ayora’s conviction is backed by early results. He kick-started his season with a T13 finish at the Dubai Invitational. Right now, he’s looking to ace the DP World Tour’s Race to Dubai. With that, he aims to claim one out of the 10 PGA Tour cards. 

The 21-year-old asserted, “That’s what I want to do, so I’m going to fight for that.”

Why Did Angel Ayora Reject LIV Golf in 2024?

By the end of 2024, Ayora captured the fourth spot in the Race to Dubai rankings. And that caught the attention of Martin Kaymer, the captain of Cleeks GC.

He wanted the Spaniard to fill the void left by Kale Samooja, who failed to secure his spot in the Saudi-backed league and didn’t get his contract renewed. 

Angel Ayora took a few days to consider. After all, LIV Golf has remained infamous for offering lucrative contracts to young rising stars. However, he ultimately refused. And that brought him a chance to play on the PGA Tour. 

He began his journey with a T59 finish at the 2025 Puerto Rico Open. But missed the cut for the 2025 Zurich Classic of New Orleans. And in October 2025, Ayora secured a T50 finish at the ISCO Championship. 

Angel Ayora continues to prioritize legacy over luxury. His rejection of LIV Golf again just goes on to say how committed he is to the PGA Tour pathway.
