$2,000 Offer: Charley Hull Once Had a Nonchalant Reaction to This Insane Fan Interaction at an LPGA Event

Despite having three LPGA wins and six close-to-win finishes in majors, Charley Hull has seldom fit the image of a conventional LPGA star. That's because Hull has been photographed and filmed lighting a smoke even between rounds.

One such moment surfaced in May 2024 at the U.S. Women’s Open, when a fan spotted Hull lighting a cigarette during the game. Thats when the fan made made the unusual offer. “Sign that for me, Charley. I’ll give you two grand," the fan requested.

Rather than reacting with surprise or discomfort, Hull let out a light chuckle and continued, unfazed by the unexpected offer. But it was certainly not the first time fans interacted with her while she had a smoke in her mouth at the event.

After she finished the U.S. Open in T19, another fan asked Hull for an autograph as she was walking to the range. She had her hands full, with a cigarette lit. But Charley Hull didn’t want to disappoint the fan and gave him an autograph. The moment went viral on social media, and fans kept stressing over her smoking habit.

After being diagnosed with ADHD in 2023, Hull took to smoking as a coping mechanism. ADHD made it harder for her to focus on her game during long and slow rounds. However, Hull has reformed and has left the habit in the past. But how did the LPGA star do it?

Charley Hull Reveals the Secret to Quitting

"I think it's the easiest thing I've ever done in my life,” Hull revealed her stance on quitting smoking altogether ahead of the 2025 Black Desert Championship in Utah. "I'm a strong-minded person usually when I put my head and my mind to I can do it."

Her reformation journey began with a $13,509.20 bet (£10,000) with her friend, Ryan Evans. She promised to pay him off if she turned to smoking again. But she hasn’t done it ever since.

As Charles Duhigg told in his book, ‘The Power Of Habit’, it usually takes 21 days to make or break a habit. And that’s exactly what Hull did. “If you do it for two months, you can do it for ages. But, obviously, you can't promise anything for life like that. But yeah, I won't be smoking. I'm good. I've got over it now,” she confirmed.

Hull’s viral moments may have sparked debate, but her ability to reset, refocus, and move forward says more about her career than any sideline habit.
