Golf legend Tiger Woods is the only player to win both the U.S. Amateur and U.S. Junior Amateur three consecutive times.

Now, the USGA is making sure his unmatched dominance in the amateur ranks will be the new gold standard for every up-and-coming golfer.

The governing body has now officially announced the 'Tiger Woods Medal' and changed the U.S. Junior Amateur prize to the 'Tiger Woods Trophy.'

It will be an eternal tribute to Woods' name, fused with the awards he once won with such legendary prowess.

“Starting this summer, champions of the U.S. Amateur and U.S. Junior Amateur will receive these newly named trophies,” the USGA, in an unveiling of some of the first designs, stated, in honor of Woods.

During the USGA's latest communications, new award designs were highlighted for the first time. Woods' impact on the game is profound, and the USGA could not find a more impactful player to honor with its new awards.

USGA CEO Mike Whan has previously stated that Tiger's story transformed golf for all time. With these prestigious awards named after him, the organization means that future champions will have to, quite literally, fall in his legendary shadow.

Woods now joins a very small group of legends with USGA awards named after them, including Jack Nicklaus (U.S. Open Gold Medal) and Mickey Wright (U.S. Women’s Open Medal).

These awards will be presented for the first time at the 78th U.S. Junior Amateur from July 20th to 25th, 2026, at Saucon Valley Country Club.

A Legacy Carved in Silver and Gold

The newest addition to the collection of awards is the Tiger Woods Medal, featuring a silhouette of Tiger Woods celebrating a golf victory. Every young golfer who receives this award will be inspired by the standard set by Woods when he was a teenager.

With the name of Woods inscribed on the trophy, a new USGA tradition has formed. This will ensure the "Tiger Effect" sticks around on the junior circuit.

Woods' influence goes far beyond his competitive record and extends to his unyielding commitment to developing the game. The shift from being a top player to a role model speaks to his commitment to the up-and-coming golfers.
