The PGA Tour is evolving, and that evolution comes with a potential schedule change. And the change can even influence the timing and location of the Tiger Woods’ Genesis Invitational.
During the presser for the 2026 Genesis Invitational, Woods talked about the potential change as a board member and a player on the tour. And the 15-time major champion claimed, “We're looking at everything.”
“Some things that we've taken a look at we've nixed off the table, and there's other opportunities that have grown, and we've flushed out. As I said, the player directors have been unbelievable trying to figure all this out because we represent the player body, and we're trying to create the best product we possibly can for all our partners and fans and everyone who's involved.”
The Genesis Invitational will likely return to Riviera after the LA wildfires pushed it to a different location in 2025. But right now, heavy precipitation and the risk of flash flooding have brought uncertainty into the picture.

Woods didn’t have a solid take on whether the Genesis Invitational would remain in Southern California at the current time and date or if it’d move to August. Although he claimed that the team is “looking at everything,” and things change daily.
Woods stated, “It changes day-to-day, so if you ask me tomorrow, that might change.”
But Tiger Woods seemed to have complete faith in his fellow board members.
Tiger Woods Weighs In on the Timeline of the Potential Change in PGA Tour Schedule
The 50-year-old said, “We would like to have it happen in 2027.”
“We may have to roll it out over a couple-year period. We may not be able to implement all of it in 2027, but there will definitely be parts of it integrated or changed from what it is now in ’26 into ’27.”
But till now, no final decision has been made. And the 15-time major champion has made it clear that the discussions are still active. However, the focus remains on a schedule that’d work best for the players, sponsors, broadcasters, and the fans.
What are your thoughts on the possible change in scheduling for the PGA Tour events?
