Cobra Golf has unveiled the new King TEC-MD mini driver specifically for everyday golfers. But what makes the new driver suitable for the normal golfers?
Cobra Golf’s VP of Product Architecture and Consumer Connections, Jose Mirafor, told GOLF, “This mini driver can suit all golfers in the fact that, for the best players in the world, they need a product that works on skinnier fairways or fairways where they need to place it in a position and not have their driver run through a fairway or be too far.”
“For the normal golfer, it’s a lot easier to hit off the tee than the fairway wood, because it’s much larger.”
The King TEC-MD features a compact 303 cc clubhead, a shorter 43.75-inch shaft that is closer to the length of fairway woods, and a standard 13.5° loft. Traditionally, drivers have a 450 cc clubhead. But this one makes things easier to maintain the shot and control over dispersion.
Dan Ladd, the president of Cobra Puma Golf, stated, “We think there are a lot of recreational players who can also benefit from the combination of distance and accuracy mini-drivers provide, especially with the addition of Cobra’s industry-leading technologies and fitting capabilities.”
Cobra Golf took more than a year to develop the King TEC-MD. But the initial prototype, The Duce, was already spotted in Rickie Fowler’s hand back in 2024.
What Makes Cobra Golf King TEC-MD Special?
The new mini driver aims at the real-world needs of amateur golfers. They need tighter dispersion and a usable distance that keeps the tee shots in play. And the club’s PWRSHELL face with H.O.T. technology is made to preserve ball speed across a broader face area.
Additionally, with 33 different loft and lie combinations, new players can dynamically adjust the club to suit their specific requirements. With the FutureFit33 hosel system, the hosel can be positioned two degrees flatter, which is quite unique among mini drivers available on the market.
Additionally, the stock position of the club weighs 12 g in the back and 2 g in the rear. This makes the King TEC-MD a well-balanced mini driver.
Showcasing the club on Instagram, Cobra Golf captioned, “Size isn’t everything. The new KING Mini Driver delivers precise control and confidence to shape shots, hit fairways and tackle any course with ease.”
The King TEC-MD is now available for pre-order, starting from January 12, 2026, with retail sales commencing on January 16, 2026. And the price? It’s set for $479.99.
