Xander Schauffele Shares Honest Feelings About Criticism Around PGA Tour's Packed Schedule

via Usta

Xander Schauffele is feeling the mental and physical weight of the PGA Tour's grueling summer sprint, but understands the pressures. The PGA Tour pro heads to the Aronimink Golf Club after experiencing what could be described as the most difficult part of the season.

The PGA Tour is experiencing one of its most condensed three-month schedules. This entails a schedule that includes four majors and five Signature Events, with little or no break time between these tournaments.

Speaking on the busy schedule of the PGA Tour, the professional stated candidly, "Yeah, it's a little bit more of a sprint. You definitely want to be in good form and stay there."

This statement was made in a pre-tournament press conference on Tuesday. Currently, Schauffele will be competing in the 108th PGA Championship, which will mark the golfer's 10th appearance in the tournament.

"In terms of changing it, there's a lot more that goes into the schedule than I think people realize. It's hard to just, well, let's move this there and this there."

Schauffele remains realistic about the logistical nightmare of rearranging the current calendar. He believes that moving events is not as simple as fans or critics might expect, given the various stakeholders involved.

"I think they're working their best to make it all work, all the bodies of golf," Schauffele said about the tournament officials working to ensure all the events go smoothly within the tight schedule.

While he acknowledges the demands of the calendar, Xander has successfully coped with the challenge, picking out those tournaments where he decided to compete and those he chose to skip.

Even with the hefty schedule, Schauffele continues to be among the top players this season, including a tie for ninth position at the Masters. The congested schedule of 2026 has necessitated some tough calls from the 2024 champion.

To cope with the demanding nature of the schedule, Schauffele decided to forego participation in the 2026 Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral. The decision was based on load management, considering the upcoming second major of the year.

Schauffele's strategy focuses on entering major championships with a clear mind. According to him, if a golfer manages to clear their head, they can exploit their full potential.

"For me, I feel like it's a bit more of a mindset you have to kind of lock into."

He is now focused on finding a "blackout moment" to navigate the diabolical greens at Aronimink. By choosing timely rest over extra starts, he hopes to bring his best game to the course.

Do you think Xander Schauffele will be able to recreate his 2024 success at the PGA Championship this year? Let us know in the comments.
